The Emir of Kano recently travelled to Mecca for Hajj.
“The
Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, and a mandatory
religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in
their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially
capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during
their absence.”
Former Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi became the Emir of Kano on the 8th of June 2014.
He was announced Amirul Hajj
(leader of Nigerian delegation to this year’s Hajj exercise) by the The
President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs
(NSCIA).
