Why You Should Get An Acatel Onetouch Pixi3

Cheap and cheerful is what Alcatel's going for with its OneTouch Pixi 3 (3.5), with a solid plastic chassis that doesn't flex too much and doesn't actually feel like a £25 phone - it is rather chunky though. It won't compete with the metal Android flagships out at the moment like the HTC One (M9), but the Pixi isn't trying to, and it's down to the actual software that saves it from the bargain bin.

Full-fat Android 4.4 KitKat is a solid, relatively up-to-date operating system for a barebones budget phone like this, and we're used to seeing feature phones pack in a basic OS at this kind of price point - it's a pleasant surprise. Alcatel has packed in an Android skin that's perfectly pleasant and works well enough and isn't hindered by bloatware, making for an easy to use phone if you're already well acquainted with Android - and it's a great starting point if you're not.

So long as you don't try to play any games on the Pixi 3 (3.5), the 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM keep things ticking over, and it manages to handle your basic day-to-day tasks easily. While we did see some stutter when switching from app to app quickly and using a few more intensive apps, we were pleased with its performance -  seriously though, don’t try to play any new games on this, as it won't manage to keep up.

Of course, it's the cheapphone to take on holiday or to festivals if you can't leave the likes of WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger behind.
