R.I.P…Former Presidential Candidate Passes Away

 

Former presidential candidate of the All Nigeria People’s Party of Nigeria (ANPP), Gamaliel Onosode, has passed away.

BusinessDayOnline reports that Onosode passed away on Tuesday at age 82, and that the news was confirmed his son, Ese Onosode.

The report also states:

"Onosode was educated at the Government College, Ughelli and the University of Ibadan, he emerged in the 1970s, as one of Nigeria’s leading educated chief executives, when he was at the helm of NAL Merchant Bank of Nigeria. Over the years, he has risen to become a leading boardroom player in Nigeria’s corporate environment.

He was also a former presidential adviser to President Shagari and a former president of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

Bride-to-be in lagos Sent to Prison 1 Week Before Wedding for Slapping Neighbour

A 33-year-old woman, Olawunmi, was arrested and remanded in prison custody a week to her wedding for slapping her neigbour, Anthony.

According to PM News, she was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isolo for the alleged offence.

After the incident occurred, Anthonywent to Ijeshatedo police division and reported Olawunmi’s actions. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the station.

It is unclear why she slapped Anthony. She was urged to apologize but she refused.

Thereafter, she was charged with assault. During the arraignment, she pleaded not guilty.

She was granted N20,000 with one surety and was remanded in prison custody pending settlement of her bail. The case has been adjourned till 16 October, 2015.

Olawunmi wept when she heard the verdict, as her wedding was just a week away.

86 senators pass vote of confidence on Saraki as his supporters carry placard outside National Assembly (photos)

At the resumed session of the Senate this morning, 86 senators passed their vote of confidence on Senate president Bukola Saraki. Senator David Umaru moved the motion to pass the vote of confidence which was seconded by Senator Ahmed Sani. Senate to receive ministerial list today

The much awaited ministerial list is said to be ready and will be handed over to Senate president Bukola Saraki during the Senate's resumed plenary session today September 29th. President Buhari is said to have handed the list to his special adviser on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang who will then hand over the list to the senate president. Speculations are rife that names such as former Rivers State Governor, Mr Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu former Army Chief, Lt-Gen. Abdurrahman Dambazzau, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana are on the list.
