Liberian president, Ellen Sirleaf, appoints her son as head of Liberian Central Bank

Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has appointed her son, Charles Sirleaf, as the interim executive governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL). Charles, who is a highly experienced banker, was until his appointment, the deputy governor of the bank, having worked for the bank since 2004. He takes over from Joseph Mills Jones, the immediate Governor of the Bank who resigned so he can prepare to run for president during Liberia's presidential election due to take place in 2017.

President Sirleaf suspended her son for a while in 2012, following his failure to properly declare his asset.

Bill Cosby tries to block sex assault prosecution

Comedian Bill Cosby on Tuesday sought to derail Pennsylvania prosecutors’ effort to make him stand trial on sexual assault charges, contending that a deal reached over a decade ago gave him immunity from prosecution.

An entertainer who built a career on family-friendly comedy, Cosby now faces accusations from more than 50 women that he sexually assaulted them, often after plying them with drugs and alcohol, in a series of attacks dating to the 1960s.

Photos: 4year old girl & her dad burnt to death during Boko Haram attack in Maiduguri yesterday

A 4 year old girl and her father were among those that were burnt to death inside their homes during an attack on Dalori, a settlement situated on the outskirt of Maiduguri, Borno state yesterday January 30th. Over 100 people were reportedly killed during the attack which lasted over 3 hours. The sect members, dressed in military uniform, shot people dead and burnt homes. Saudi prince slams Donald Trump on Twitter

A Saudi prince has slammed Donald Trump after being dragged into the Republican presidential front-runner’s battle with Fox News, saying he “bailed out” the businessman twice in the past.

The war of words erupted on Twitter on Thursday after Trump posted a photoshopped image that showed Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bin Abdulaziz with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly describing Al-Waleed as a “co-owner of Fox News”.

See Woman who carried pregnancy for four years

33-year-old Oluwabunmi and her 42-year-old husband, Bankole Ogidan both pictured above, welcomed their first child at a hospital in Ogun state on Wednesday January 27th from a pregnancy she reportedly carried for four years.

Narrating the unusual experience to The Nation, Bankole who has been married to Oluwabunmi since August 2011 said

14-year-old girl raped by four friends

Femi Olatunji, 17; Oyekanmi Rasheed, 18; Oladele Habib, 18 and John Alade, 16, are currently chilling at the police net in Lagos, for allegedly raping 14-year-old Habibat Adeolu (not real names).
Speaking to Saturday PUNCH , Habibat said the friends threatened to kill her if she told anybody about the incident.

Narrating her ordeal, the young girl who said she had known Femi as her tailor, said she went to him to have her dress mended when he and his friends pounced on her.She said;

Zuckerberg now the 6th richest person in the world

The Facebook founder and CEO saw his net worth surge overnight Wednesday to around $47 billion on the strength of the social network's latest quarterly results, pushing Zuckerberg up to number six on the list of the world's richest people, according to data from Bloomberg's Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg overtook Charles and David Koch, the billionaire brothers known for pouring money into Republican coffers, and now sits behind a couple of his tech cohorts in the rankings, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Few weeks after a Nigerian grandfather Sampson Omogbo and his wife Carolyn, died in a house-fire alongside their 2 year old twin grand children at their home in USA , another Nigerian family, 26 year old Jeremiah Owojori, his pregnant wife Ashley, their 5 year old son and seven month old son all died in a tragic fire incident at their home at 201 Coleman Str. in West Monroe, Louisiana, USA. The sad incident took place on Sunday January 24th.

Man Falls 30ft to His Death while Climbing Building after He Forgot His Keys Inside


It is believed the 52-year-old Ecuadorian man, who has not been named, forgot his keys and they were locked inside his home in Alicante, Spain. He was trying to use a rope to lower himself down from the roof and get in through an open window but tragically lost his balance and plummeted from the third floor.

A neighbour happened to be filming his perilous attempt when he captured the whole devastating event unfold on his mobile phone.

British actor Alan Rickman, well known for his role in the movie series, Harry Potter, died today January 16th after secretly battling cancer for years. He was 69 years old.
