A 34-year-old slice of fruit cake from the wedding of Prince Charles and
Princess Diana, is set to sell for a staggering $4,000 at an auction by
Nate D. Sanders auctioneers in Los Angeles.
According to the auctioneers, the cake is still edible as it has been
perfectly preserved thanks to the high level of alcohol in it.
A note accompanying the presentation box reads: “With best wishes from Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince & Princess of Wales”.
" Alcohol has preserved the cake making it still edible, although collectors would rather it remain intact.“Collectors are willing to pay a premium to own a piece of history from the most famous wedding of the 20th century.”
