Liberian president, Ellen Sirleaf, appoints her son as head of Liberian Central Bank

Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has appointed her son, Charles Sirleaf, as the interim executive governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL). Charles, who is a highly experienced banker, was until his appointment, the deputy governor of the bank, having worked for the bank since 2004. He takes over from Joseph Mills Jones, the immediate Governor of the Bank who resigned so he can prepare to run for president during Liberia's presidential election due to take place in 2017.

President Sirleaf suspended her son for a while in 2012, following his failure to properly declare his asset.

Bride treks to her wedding venue due to Lagos marathon vehicle restriction

This photo of a bride walking to her wedding was shared on Twitter today. The bride had to walk to the venue of her wedding due to the restriction placed on vehicular movement in Lagos today because of the Lagos marathon.

Kenyan Abraham Kiptum wins Lagos City Marathon

The much awaited Lagos City Marathon has ended with over 20,000 athletes, including 150 local and international world-class runners who participated. Kenyan Marathoner- Abraham Kipton has won the inaugural edition of the race.
Citizens from Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco, Uganda, India, Cameroon, Asia and other parts of the world are very much in the city of Lagos to contest for the ultimate $50, 000 prize money to be given to the first.

Meek Mill sentenced to 3 months house arrest...and 6 years of probation

Meek Mill was sentenced today for violating his probation and according to a report by TMZ, he escaped prison. The report below...
Meek Mill just got the best possible outcome at his sentencing for probation violation -- zero time behind bars. A Philadelphia judge gave Meek 6 to 12 months in county jail, BUT he will be allowed to serve the time on house arrest. He will do a minimum of 90 days, and won't be able to do his regular job -- rapping and performing, he can only do charitable work for the community.

Video: Nigerian female Army cadet beats up a man for calling her 'beautiful'

Sahara Reporters posted this shocking video of human rights abuses by some army cadets. A female cadet is seen molesting and torturing, with the help of her colleagues, a young man who called her 'beautiful'... Watch video below;
